Hey fellow Filmmakers! Itching to make something? Kick start 2019 with a film shoot! We have compiled a few events that may get you off your seat and start shooting! Here are 5 short film competitions/ film festivals that you might want to consider taking part in from now till the start of next year.

1. Filet Short Film Competition

As part of Filet’s Launch, we are hosting our very own short film competition, with exciting prizes to be won! The theme of the competition is “The Perfect Sound”. Hire your talents through your Filet account and submit your short film! With 30 winners getting at least a Sennheiser Memory Mic, and more than S$15,000 worth of prizes in total to be won! Registration is totally free!

2. ciNE65 Movie Makers Awards

The ciNE65 Movie Makers Awards is a short film competition that encompasses a new prestigious award “Movie Makers Award” in partnership with mm2 Entertainment. Participants can stand a chance to direct their own feature film with mm2 Entertainment, as well as win other attractive prizes, such as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity learning trip to the Busan International Film Festival 2019. Cash prizes of up to $3,000 as well as Panasonic Professional 4K cameras are also up for grabs.

3. Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia

The Official Competition consists of three categories: International, Asia International and Japan. The Best Short Award is chosen for each category and the George Lucas Award (Grand Prix) is chosen from the three Best Short Award winners. The short film that receives the George Lucas Award (Grand Prix) will be eligible for nomination at the annual Academy Awards® the following year.

4. 23rd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival

Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) is now accepting submissions for its 23rd Edition that will take place from July 11th to 21st, 2019. BIFAN is recognized as the most representative symbol of Bucheon city and one of the most dynamic genre events around the World. Now we provide online entry system for facilitating submission process for the respected and enthusiastic Filmmakers. Now it’s your turn to make this summer great at the 23rd edition of BIFAN.

5. Asian Film Festival of Dallas

The Asian Film Festival of Dallas (AFFD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and supporting emerging and established Asian and Asian-American filmmakers and sharing the rich diversity of Asian culture through the medium of cinema. Over the last fifteen years, the festival has provided opportunities for over 400 Asian and Asian American filmmakers and documentarians to share their vision, often providing the only venue for their films to be shown in Dallas.

Theme: Subject matter concerning Asian issues from any year, country, state, age, category
